LIVE, FREE AND ON-DEMAND
The National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) has today announced an exclusive partnership with Australia’s Home of Motorsport, the Seven Network.
In an exciting broadcast and promotional partnership, a groundbreaking amount of live and free drag racing content will be delivered to Australian audiences via Seven’s digital streaming platform, 7plus.
7plus is the place to go for live and free race day broadcasts from all 11 headline rounds of the NDRC, while 7mate and 7plus will air post-produced highlight specials.
The NDRC is the new, unified national championship for drag racing in Australia and was officially launched on May 10 by the team behind the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship.
“We’ve delivered 13 high-quality broadcast events in the past 18 months with the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship. That’s given Seven the confidence to get behind Australian drag racing and take these next steps with us to bring the sport to a whole new audience,” Prendergast said.
“This unprecedented deal is a massive step forward for Australian drag racing and will give the sport the exposure it deserves,” said NDRC co-promoter and Head of TV, Nathan Prendergast.
While the Seven Network will ensure the NDRC is broadcast into homes all around Australia, there is good news too for international viewers, with FloRacing to carry live and free race day broadcasts around the globe.
Under the guiding principle of ‘One Way, Forward,’ the NDRC represents a new era for drag racing in Australia, with Top Fuel, Nitro Funny Car, Top Doorslammer, Pro Alcohol, Pro Stock, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Stock Bike, Pro Mod, and Sportsman all having the opportunity to race in one national championship series at venues all over the country.
The NDRC calendar will be announced on May 26 from The Bend Dragway and is set to feature eleven championship events headlined by either the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship or the Nitro Funny Car Championship, bringing more nitro racing to Australian drag racing fans than ever before.
The Aeroflow Sportsman Championship will run at both the 11 NDRC Group 1 events and also at standalone shows at regional tracks, with regional tracks invited to host and manage standalone events as they have done with previous championships, with strong marketing and communications support from the NDRC team.
A single Grand Final event for all professional categories will be held in 2024 at the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway, with this mega event to see the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and Nitro Funny Cars Championship come together with Group 1 for the first time. The Aeroflow Sportsman Championship, meanwhile will host its own spectacular Grand Final at The Bend Dragway.
